Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing
Table of Contents
1. Website
- i. The URL address of the official journal website: https://www.rcphn.org/.
- ii. ‘Aims and Scope’ statement: The Research in Community and Public Health Nursing (RCPHN) is the official journal of The Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing. RCPHN is a peer-reviewed journal published quarterly by the Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing.
The RCPHN coverage includes theoretical, practical, and educational issues related to community and public health nursing. Articles include original research articles, reviews, and editorials. This journal aims to provide worldwide access to timely research and practice features of use to community and public health nurses, educators, school health teachers, occupational nurses, and administrators in the field of community and public health nursing.
- iii. Readership: It is primarily for researchers who seek tailored information about community and public health nursing, but its readership can be expanded to other positions; researchers have access to recent community/public health research topics and detailed research methods; community health/public health teachers and nurses in the field have access to new information and recent community health nursing; nursing students can learn about recent trends in the field and read about interesting topics; policymakers can reflect on the article results and apply them in national healthcare policies for subjects under community and public health. Scientists will be able to read the advances in the evaluation study of undergraduates, graduates, and continuing education to gain confidence in future health professional training courses.
- iv. Authorship criteria: website (author guideline)
According to the ICMJE guidelines, the authors of the paper must have met all of the following criteria: (1) substantial contributions to conception and design, acquisition of data, and analysis and interpretation of data; (2) drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content; (3) final approval of the version to be published; (4) agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are investigated and resolved appropriately. Authors should meet these four conditions. All those designated as authors should meet all four criteria for authorship, and all who meet the four criteria should be identified as authors. Those who do not meet all four criteria should be acknowledged as contributors, not authors.
The addition of an author to a manuscript under review is possible only with the editor’s approval. If the manuscript has already been published in an online issue, any requests approved by the Editor will result in a corrigendum. Corresponding author: RCPHN does not allow multiple corresponding authors for one article. Only one author should correspond with the editorial office and readers for one article.
- v. Duplicate submission and redundant publication: website (author guideline)
Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. No part of the accepted manuscript should be duplicated in any other scientific journal without the permission of the Editorial Board. Submitted manuscripts are screened for possible plagiarism or duplicate publication by CrossCheck (http://www.ithenticate.com/) or KCI similarity check (https://check.kci.go.kr/) upon arrival. If plagiarism or duplicate publication related to the papers of this journal is detected, the manuscripts may be rejected, the authors will be announced in the journal, and their institutions will be informed. There will also be penalties for the authors. A letter of permission is required for all material that has been published previously. It is the author’s responsibility to request permission from the publisher for any material that is being reproduced. This requirement applies to text, figures, and tables.
- vi. pISSN: 2983-0648 eISSN: 2288-4203
2. Name of journal
The official journal title is Research in Community and Public Health Nursing(RCPHN). Abbreviated title is Res in Community and Public Health Nurs.
3. Peer review process: website (author guideline)
Double-blind peer review: Upon submission of a manuscript, the board of editors for the RCPHN will review the paper for appropriateness of content. Articles can be rejected during this initial review process. Articles that pass this preview are then reviewed by two or more experts in the field. The authors’ names and affiliations are removed during peer review. The board of editors reserves the right to edit a manuscript for phrasing, style, and overall length at any stage prior to publication while maintaining the scientific accuracy of the manuscript. Authors may be asked to revise their manuscript based on comments from reviewers and editors. Authors are required to submit a letter of explanation regarding how they dealt with all comments and questions raised by reviewers and editors. If revisions cannot be submitted within two weeks, author(s) may request a one-month grace period. If the revised manuscript is not submitted within the required period, the manuscript will automatically be withdrawn.

- Authorship credit should be based on: (1) substantial contributions to conception and design, acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data; (2) drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content; (3) final approval of the version to be published; and (4) agreeing to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that the questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
- Any designated author should meet all four criteria for authorship, and anyone who meets the four criteria should be identified as an author. Authors should have confidence in the integrity of the contributions of their co-authors. All other contributors not listed as authors should be mentioned in the acknowledgments section. When a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation is submitted for publication, the first author should be the person awarded the degree, and they should declare that content is from the thesis/dissertation.

The discussion and decision on the suspected cases are carried out by the ethical committee.
- Authors should not submit the same research to more than one journal and should not publish the manuscript in different languages. If authors wish to pursue a secondary publication of the manuscript in another language, they should obtain approval from the editor-in-chief of both related journals. The editorial board will determine the nature and degree of duplicate publication or duplicate submission for the manuscript.
- iii. Journal policies on conflicts of interest / competing interests: The corresponding author of an article is asked to inform the Editor of the authors’ potential conflicts of interest that may have influenced the research or interpretation of data. A potential conflict of interest should be disclosed on the title page and at the end of the main text, even when the authors are confident that their respective judgments have not been influenced when preparing the manuscript. Such conflicts may include but are not limited to financial support or private connections to pharmaceutical companies, political pressure from special interest groups, or academic problems.

- Research Data Sharing
- This journal encourages and enables you to share data that supports your research publication, where appropriate, and enables you to interlink the data with your published articles. Research data refers to the results of observations or experimentation that validate research findings. To facilitate reproducibility and data reuse, this journal also encourages you to share your software, code, models, algorithms, protocols, methods, and other useful materials related to the project.
- Data generated through the participation of subjects and the public should be put to maximum use by the research community and, whenever possible, translated to deliver patient benefit. Data sharing benefits numerous research-related activities: reproducing analyses; testing secondary hypotheses; developing and evaluating novel statistical methods; teaching; aiding in the design of future trials; meta-analyses; and helping to prevent error, fraud, and selective reporting.
-
The examples of data sharing statements are as follows:
- • Example 1. Data can be obtained from the corresponding author.
